Professional audio compatibility - It has a special microchip that can playback recording studio quality audio. You'll enjoy sizzles and snaps, crystal clear voices, deep techno bass sounds, cinema-like audio -- whisper soft clarity, and thunderously loud crashes and bangs for full movie dynamism, all faithfully reproduced on your sound system.

Dolby Digital & DTS Supported - Enjoy true surround sound reproduction with all suitably encoded DVDs and playback systems. If you have one of those home theatre systems with 5 or 7 loudspeakers, plus a sub-woofer, and a proper AV receiver, you'll be in for a treat. Planes zoom over your head, bees buzz around, missiles fly past you -- just like the real thing!

PureCinema Progressive Scan - Frankly, this is only for the better TV sets or monitors (LCD, Plasma, etc). What this means is that pictures will be flicker free (no more horizontal lines that seem to go on-off-on-off...), still images will be astoundingly sharp (3D like) and colours super vibrant.

MP3 and Windows WMA Compatible - A single CD of MP3 or WMA can easily contain 100+ high quality songs. This means that you can have hours of music with just one CD! Careful reading revealed that only certain types of MP3 and WMA files are supported. However, this is not a concern as I checked and found that 99% of your MP3s and WMAs will playback flawlessly. I've left out the gory technical details for your benefit. Read the manual only if your MP3 or WMA files don't play.

Playback Anything (Almost!) - Years ago, when recordable CDs and DVDs were introduced, many players could not recognise these discs. The video was jittery, menus did not work, discs could not be recognised, and many other irritating problems. This was because the physical properties of recordable CDs and DVDs were slightly different from those commercially produced. It was quite a nightmare for the multimedia companies to explain this problem to their customers.

Today, this is no more a problem - and particularly so with this player!

It plays:

  • CD-Audio
  • Video CD
  • Super VCD
  • CDROMs with MP3, WMA, JPEG, and DivX on CDRs.
    DivX movies are those downloaded from the internet, so you won't have to limit yourself to sitting down in front of your PC to watch these movies. For the techies, this is an Official DivX Certified product and plays back DivX 5, DivX 4, DivX 3 and DivX VOD video content.
  • DVD-Video

Supported types of CDs and DVDs include CD-R/RW, DVD-R/RW, DVD+R/RW -- which covers virtually all kinds of writable media available today. Again, if something does not playback - check the manual - there are some exclusions there, but nothing to worry about if you follow the standards.

Full Featured Remote Control - Allows you to perform important functions, all from the comfort of your sofa.
